Eyelid/Eyebrow Surgery

Eyelid “droopiness” can be the result of three different conditions. Eyelid skin is normally smooth with good elasticity, but over time the eyelid skin can stretch. This allows orbital fat to bulge forward, and the muscles weaken. Surgery to improve the appearance of eyelid skin is called a blepharoplasty. This procedure can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelid skin.

The second condition gives the appearance of “small eyes”. This is called eyelid ptosis and results from a stretching of the eyelid muscles. Eyelid ptosis can be present in one eyelid or both.

Lastly, eyebrows can droop into the eyelids and cause crowding. This is called brow ptosis.

Lower eyelids can also droop and may contribute to excessive tearing or chronic eye irritation. These conditions are called ectropion and entropion, respectively.

Treatment for many of the aforementioned conditions can be covered by your insurance. Call today to schedule your consultation.
